Wednesdays from 4:00 to 6:00 PM CST on 91.3 FM in Regina or http://cjtr.ca/webcast | "Of all noises, I think music is the least disagreeable." – Samuel Johnson
Cheating at blogging: If there were time, I’d write this into a big argument for and against every angle I could think of, but for the purposes of this post, I’ll just skip to my point:
While music may be classified as art, I would argue that music is so much different from visual art that it is its own category outside of art. I’m not just talking about all that weird experimental music you can’t tap your foot to. I mean that music is not only something everyone can enjoy in one of its endless forms or another (like visual art) – it’s literally intrinsic to all being.
Music, or more primally, sound is the root of all existence – or it is existence. Sound is nothing but vibration, right? If something vibrates slowly enough, it may appear as solid. If it vibrates quickly enough, it may appear as light. Every single thing emanates a vibration. It is widely known that planets resonate at certain frequencies, just as everything has a resonating frequency. In fact, nothing ever stops vibrating. If nothing ever stops vibrating, that means that everything that has ever vibrated is still vibrating.
As you listen to What Planet Is This?! from 4:00 to 6:00 today, remember that every vibration you experience will continue to vibrate forever. :)
